The Poetry of Anna M. Hyll

Little Clock upon the wall
As you tick and call us all
To our work at break of day
Little Midge just wants to play
It is she at all our heels
Wants to romp and eat her meals
Keeps us all from growing glum
Makes our daily life just hum
says "Hello" with tail awagging
says "Goodbye" with her tail dragging
Life without her would be bleak
But with Midge, Life seems complete

I see a pool
In a garden so fair
With tiny gold fish
And lillies so rare
At the head of this pool
Is a statue not tall
Of a boy without clothing
Surveying it all
(Spraying)

A little seed.
How tiny it is
But Oh! what joy
And pleasures it gives
For it grows into plants
and blossoms and trees
Which have fragrance and color
That give our souls ease

There's a beautiful window
That is arched and so tall
At the head of the stairway
Leading up to the hall

Outside of this window
In a garden so small
The Magnolia Tree grows
With its branches so tall

It is covered with blossoms
Of such color and hue
Creating a Vision
Against skies of blue

With moonbeams upon them
Glistening raindrops and dew
The birsd fly among them
The sun's streaming through

Tis a beautiful picture
That seems Oh! so rare
Created by God
In his world so fair

Tis a vision of beauty
My heart it delights
What a pity an artist
Can't paint it so bright

I love you, I love you
The bridegroom doth say
To his beautiful bride
On their Wedding day

Two months have elapsed
And he shouts at this wife
I can't understand
Why nothing seems right

Several years have gone by
With the sorrows and joy
He now is so happy
With his bouncing boy

Many years have elapsed
Since that fine Wedding day
He is older and wiser
His hair has turned gray

His wife is beside him
As he dreams of the past
Hoping and praying
The years won't go so fast
